3 Tips to Successfully Apply under the Express Entry Program

While the Express Entry program is a great way to get into Canada and earn your PR (permanent residence) status, applying is far from easy. Small mistakes can easily cost you your chances of getting your application approved. To add to this, different countries of origin may have slightly different factors that can affect your application. For that reason, we want to give you tips for high success rates for immigrating into Canada successfully.

 1. Thoroughly understand the requirements

You may be invited Under the different Express Entry programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class Program. Each of these has different requirements you need to fulfill to be eligible. For that reason, you must understand which category of your invitation and learn its conditions well.

Make sure you know and meet at least the minimum eligibility criteria. You can do this by providing supporting documents as proof alongside other documents that are required by the program.

 2. Triple-check your points

When you receive your invitation, check your CRS (Comprehensive Ranking Score). Anything can happen between the moment you receive the invitation and the moment you apply, causing the score totals to change. Other issues such as missing information can also cause discrepancies in the score.

For that reason, it is vital to keep track of your points throughout the process. The CIC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) will also check your CRS score to see if you meet the minimum requirements.

Do what you can to keep the score up to decrease your chances of wasted time, money, and energy.

3. Get police clearance done quickly

Police clearances can take a lot of time to complete. When you receive an invitation to apply, take the time to get your clearances out of the way. The police clearance is required of any applicants above 18 who have lived at least six months in a particular country.

Note that police clearances will be valid only if you still live in said country and six months from issuance. However, if you live out of a country, any clearances from the country you left will be invalidated no matter what.

Conclusion

Getting the invitation to apply for immigration to Canada, with all its opportunities, can be an exciting moment for anyone. That said, do follow the tips we have shared above when you apply. That way, you minimize mistakes that can either delay your application or even lead to a refusal, forcing you to try again in the future.

If you are still unsure of some aspects of the application process or need general assistance to increase your chances of success, work with a Canadian immigration expert.
