You might be pleased to hear that you can immigrate to Canada for professional purposes. For example, you might go there to set up a brand-new business or to work in a specific industry. However, you might be looking to migrate to Canada as a nurse. Fortunately for you, this position is highly sought after, meaning that you have an extremely high chance of successfully immigrating to the country.
There are a few ways you can enter Canada as a nurse, and these are:
1. Express Entry
In the Express Entry Program, you create an online profile containing all your information, such as credentials, work experience, and the like. This data is all given a value in which your scores, known as the Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS), will be calculated. With that done, you will be placed in a pool of other applicants with their ranking scores. Each month, some applicants will be chosen based on a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score.
The higher your CRS, the higher the chances of you getting picked from the crowd and moving into Canada permanently.
2. Atlantic Immigration Pilot
Another program you can opt for is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot program. This program aims to target highly-skilled nurses who know precisely which part of Canada they would like to work in and settle into. However, these “parts of Canada” must fall within the following three places: Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. Anywhere else and the program will not apply.
Why is it only these three locations? That is because these communities drive the Atlantic Immigration Pilot. Because of this, you will need to have a job offer from the following places, as well as the willingness to stay and live in these areas. Only then can you receive a recommendation.
3. Provincial Nomination Program
Similar to the Atlantic Immigration Pilot program is the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). The only real difference here is that you can pretty much settle in any province in Canada. Of course, you will still be applying for a nomination.
How do you express this interest in the first place? Well, you either express your interest to stay in the place or contact the province and apply. Since you are a nurse, a highly-sought-after role, if you do contact any of the provinces, you will most likely be nominated. From there, you can either continue with the application through the Provincial Nominee program or opt for Express Entry. Why Express Entry? Well, a nomination will gain you a hefty amount of points—600 to be exact—which is half the total amount of points you can gain from an Express Entry profile. Plus, it is much faster than the PNP.
As a nurse, you will likely be guaranteed immigration to Canada just because your skillsets are needed. However, this does not assure your immigration 100%. Just like anyone else trying to migrate to Canada through their profession, you must go through the proper channels.
If you are having trouble getting things done, such as gathering the right documents or understanding specific requirements, feel free to work with an immigration agency.
