Affordable Ways to Immigrate to Canada

Moving to Canada can open you to plenty of opportunities. Since the country holds value to its growing economy that knows little-to-no borders, it’s exciting to see different immigration programs available to welcome dreamers from across the world.

Choosing an Immigration Program That is Affordable and Accessible

The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is ready to move on from the economic slowdown caused by the recent pandemic. It plans to invite a staggering 1.23 million immigrants to be part of the Canadian community by 2023.

The opportunity is definitely open for people to take, but the process of starting a new life in a foreign country does not come cheap. On top of paying for the mandatory settlement funds and government application fees, you’d also have to consider additional costs that can quickly burn holes through your pockets long before your application is fully processed.

If you’re living from paycheck to paycheck and need more cost-effective ways to make your move, consider the list of cheap immigration programs below:

  • Yukon Provincial Nominee Program (YPNP)

This is a great option for aspiring immigrants since entry candidates are not required to pay a fee, plus you have extensive programs to choose from, such as the following:

  • Critical Impact Worker Stream
  • Skilled Worker Stream
  • Express Entry
  • Yukon Community Program

These programs will only require you to submit the following documents:

Critical Impact Worker Stream

  • At least six months of full-time relevant work experience;
  • A minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 in English and/or French;
  • A high school education;
  • Any higher education required for the position;

Skilled Worker Stream

  • At least 12 months of full-time relevant work experience;
  • A minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in English and/or French for NOC B and CLB 7 for NOC 0 and A;

As for the Yukon Community Program, only employers from communities like Carcross, Carmacks, Dawson City, Haines Junction, Watson Lake, and Whitehorse can nominate foreign applicants to apply for their position in Canada.

  • Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP)

Another program immigrants can apply for without having to pay any processing fees includes the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program, which only requires the following:

Physician Stream

As the moniker suggests, working as a general practitioner or specialist with an approved job offer to work at the Nova Scotia Health Authority or IWK Health Centre can utilize this program.

Skilled Worker Stream

  • Must have a full-time permanent job offer from a native employer;
  • At least one year of relevant work experience;
  • Must be at least 21 to 55 years old;
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma;
  • Must pass the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5 for skilled workers or CLB Level 4 for semi-skilled to low-skilled workers;

The Bottom Line: Exploring Cheap Ways to Achieve Your Immigration Goals in Canada

While Canada is open to people from different walks of life, everyone is subject to meet standards to ensure you’re eligible for the immigration visa you’re applying for. But long before you prepare for all the necessary paperwork in the application process, it’s crucial to set aside a dedicated budget that can kickstart your new life abroad.
