Canadian Express Entry: The Best Way to Immigrate in 2021

Countries worldwide implemented strict travel restrictions and safety guidelines to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Despite this, Canada continues to invite immigrants who want to become permanent residents with the appropriate health guidelines in place. Marco Mendicino, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship for Canada, announced that the country would welcome 401,000 new permanent residents this year

Also, Canada sent 5,000 Invitations To Apply (ITA) this April, meaning 5,000 foreigners can apply for permanent residency. Since this process is quicker than most immigration systems, the Express Entry system is considered the best way to immigrate to Canada in 2021. If you want to be a part of the next Canadian Express Entry draw, use this article as your guide.

What Is the Express Entry System?

The Canadian Express Entry is the fastest immigration system in Canada and serves as one of the largest entry points for Canadian immigration. It lets people submit a profile and be considered skilled workers.

Candidates with the highest rankings are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residency. It is made of three federal immigration programs, namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Once you have submitted your application, the Government determines which program you are eligible for. If you are a potential skilled worker, the Express Entry system will ensure fast processing times, as little as six months.

What Are the Documents I Have to Prepare?

Confirm that you have met the Express Entry requirements. Afterward, create an online profile. Here are the documents you need to prepare:

  • Passport or travel document
  • Language test results
  • Education credential assessment report
  • Proof of work experience (if you have one)
  • Certificate of qualification in a trade occupation issued by a Canadian province or territory (if you have one)
  • Provincial Nomination (if you have one)

How Does the Express Entry System Work?

You must complete and submit your online application within 60 days. You will then get placed in a pool with other eligible applicants and given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score that will determine your ranking in the pool. This score highly depends on various factors, such as work experience, language skills, education, and more.

Each draw has a different CRS score. If you meet or score higher than the CRS cut-off score, you will receive an ITA allowing you to apply for Canadian permanent residency. Meanwhile, if you don’t qualify for a certain draw, your profile will remain in the pool for one year, which means you can be picked for another upcoming draw.

What Is the Comprehensive Ranking System?

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used to assess, score, and rank all profiles in the Express Entry pool. Your total CRS score is made up of two sections: the core set totalling 600 and the additional set totalling another 600 points. Thus, the maximum number of points you can score is 1,200.

Conclusion

The future looks hopeful for aspiring immigrants, especially those planning to head to Canada this year. If you are one of them, remember the information in this guide if you want to use the Canadian Express System as your way of applying for Canadian permanent residency.
