How to Apply for a Canadian Express Entry: Our Guide

There is nothing more fulfilling than being able to immigrate to Canada. This is because the country has a lot to offer, such as a robust economy, national security, excellent healthcare, great attractions, and even various job opportunities.

The good news is that individuals and families across the globe can move to the country through the Express Entry immigration selection system. Since its inception back in 2015, it has helped a lot of people gain entry and have residency in Canada.

In this article, we’ll share what you need to know about the Canadian Express Entry and what to do to be considered for an application.

What is the Canadian Express Entry?

In a nutshell, the Express Entry is an application management system allowing skilled workers from other countries to apply for immigration. On a more specific note, this system is used by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage and process applications received through the three federal economic immigration programs. These programs include the following:

  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  • Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

What does the immigration process involve?

The Express Entry’s immigration process starts with identifying your eligibility, whether under the FSW, FST, or CEC. Once eligible, you must create an Express Entry profile that serves as an Expression of Interest (EOI). You will then automatically receive a ranking score based on your profile and determined through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). With a higher score, you will have a chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). From there, you can go ahead and submit your application for permanent residence and wait for the response.

How does one create an Express Entry profile?

If you’re wondering why there is a need to create an Express Entry profile, know that this will serve as a way for the CIC to gauge your eligibility. As this entry option is a competitive immigration system, you will be ranked against other candidates based on age, education, language proficiency, and work experience, among other factors.

For this profile to be completed, you will need to undergo and submit the following documents:

  • Language test: You must show your proficiency in the English and French languages.
  • Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA): This is an assessment of non-Canadian education by Canadian standards.
  • Passport: You must submit a valid passport to create a profile.

Key considerations for an Express Entry

When applying for permanent residency through Express Entry, there are a few considerations to make. Take note of the following:

  • Be sure to show proof of settlement funds as a way to show that you have enough money to support yourself.
  • Make sure that the “job offer” received meets the conditions set forth by the Express Entry.
  • Be accurate and highly critical of your profile as all data and information will be carried over to your electronic Permanent Residence (PR) application.
  • For FSTC and CEC applicants, you must complete your Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

Conclusion

Applying for Canadian Express Entry can be a bit confusing at times, which is why you must consider all the valuable information discussed above so that you are well informed. On top of that, it’s best to work with an immigration agency that has the knowledge, expertise, and experience in immigration. If you need help and assistance, hire an immigration consultant who can guide you every step of the way.
