Unqualified for the Immigration Programs? PR Is Still Possible!

Canada is one of the few countries that are very open to immigrants, which makes it one of the most sought-after countries to immigrate to today. If you choose to come to Canada but don’t qualify for their top immigration programs, don’t lose hope. There are still some ways that could get you a Permanent Residency in the country.

Study

A popular way to move to Canada is by studying there. Whether as an undergraduate or to further your studies, there are plenty of world-class universities and colleges you can choose from. Getting this type of qualification will not only get you an excellent education, but you can also gain valuable work experience to help you qualify for permanent residency in Canada.

Many provincial and territorial graduate programs in the country are available for international students. However, the most popular route for many international students is the Post Graduate Work Permit Program (PGWPP).

PGWPP lets recently graduated students from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) to stay and work in the country for up to three years. The length of work visa or permit will depend on the length of the study program as well.

Work

Another way to move to Canada is to get a temporary job here. This is an effective way that will increase your chances of obtaining permanent residency. Many people who get a job offer for Canada usually qualify to immigrate through various Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). There are also provinces that offer occupation-specific programs for skilled workers living and working in Canada for a specified length of time to permanently stay in the country.

Working Holiday

Individuals between the age of 18 and 35 may be eligible to take a working holiday in Canada. There can apply under International Canadian Experience (IEC):

  • Those on a Working Holiday visa
  • Young professionals
  • International Co-op internship

Suppose you have at least a year of work experience and have a full-time job offer in the country. In that case, you can apply for Canadian permanent residency through the Canadian Experience Class by Canada’s Express Entry System.

Keep in mind: you need to be eligible for Express Entry, which means you can create an Express Entry profile. The information in your profile, such as your age, education, work, and language ability, are scored and added up to come up with your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Your profile will be entered into the Express Entry draw pool, and your CRS score will be ranked against other applications. If you meet the CRS cut-off score or higher, you will receive an ITA.

New Canadian Immigration Programs

These are the three ways to migrate to Canada. Another way is if you have work experience and work in essential services, like healthcare, sales, industrial, electrical, and construction trades, you can apply through the six new Canadian immigration programs that were launched in May 2021.
